Encinitas' New Electric Scooter Man

Electric scooter winner takes delivery of his new E-Max 2000

By EV World Staff

On May 1, 2006, EV World held a drawing for the winner of an E-Max 1500 electric motor scooter. Southern Californian, Bill Daumen was the lucky winner, which proved fortunate for everyone concerned since he lives about 20 miles from the closest E-Max dealer in the region.

E-Max USA, which provided the scooter for the drawing, promised delivery with the next shipment of the electric scooters to Segway of Pacific Beach.

Mr. Daumen, who elected to upgrade to the E-Max 2000 model at his own expense, took deliver of his bright red machine on Friday, June 9, 2006. He reports that he plans to use it for cruising around his Encinitas, California community running errands, going to the golf links and for checking out the nearby surf.

Good for you Bill, but we also expect you to send us regular reports on the scooter’s performance. After all, you can’t expect to have your cake... ah scooter... and eat.. sorry, ride it too... now do you?

The E-Max electric scooter has a top speed of 29 mph and a range of up to 40 miles depending on terrain, state of charge and weight of the rider. The 2000 model can carry a second adult. E-Max is built in China under German management and ownership. Since launching production some 18 months ago, the company has sold more than 3,000 units and this year will introduce two new models along more classic Italian lines. These models may soon be powered by lithium ion batteries which will significantly improve their performance to 40 mph and ranges up to 100 miles on a charge.

Prices start under $1800US.
