EnerDel is one of a handful of American lithium ion battery makers aiming to provide traction batteries for the newest generation of electric cars. During the 2008 Electric Drive Transportation Association conference and expo in Washington, DC, its CEO, Ulrik Grape (pronounced 'grap-ay') spoke with EV World about his firm, which is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The company is a division of Ener1, a technology investment group headquartered in New York City, which recently put nearly $6 million dollars into Norway's Think Global, makers of the Th!nk City electric car.
