Electric Drifting with Pitracer
You expect the large automakers like GM and Nissan to exhibit their latest electric vehicles at the annual AltCar Expo held in Santa Monica, California; and they, along with their counterparts at Honda, Coda, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Fisker, Ford and Toyota were out in force. But so were hopeful start-ups and home garage efforts.
Shayne Poindexter falls into the latter category, bring along a couple custom-made three-quarter scale go karts designed not for racing but for "drifting," which Wikipedia defines as, "a driving technique and to a motorsport where the driver intentionally over steers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, while maintaining vehicle control and a high exit speed."
In this EV World Dialogues video, he talks with EV World's Bill Moore about his project and aspirations to find a way to move it beyond a hobby to a commercial enterprise that might include manufacturing kits and/or operating "drifting" schools for youth and adults based on his kart, which he demonstrates. The company has set up a simple one-page website at Pitracer.net.
