ISE, which makes hybrid-electric drive systems and control software for heavy-duty trucks and buses, said Thursday it raised $25 million in venture capital funding, a sign of growing interest in high-mileage technology amid high oil prices and tough environmental regulations.

The Series B round brings ISE’s total funding to $31.7 million. Investors in the round include NGP Energy Technology Partners, Rockport Capital Partners, and Third Avenue Management.

ISE "is poised to take advantage of the benefits hybrid technologies will bring to the transit bus, heavy-duty truck, and military markets," said Philip J. Deutch, a managing partner at NGP Energy Technology Partners.
