Reported: Mitsubishi Plans Electric Hybrid SUV

Mid-sized electric hybrid SUV is reported to have a lithium battery range of up to 31 miles before reverting to full-hybrid operation.

Yomiuri newspaper is reporting that Mitsubishi Motors is developing a plug-in hybrid sports utility vehicle based on its mid-sized Outlander model. The SUV will go on sale starting in April of 213 in Japan.

According to Yomiuri, it will sell for around ¥ 3.5 million ($41,780). It purportedly has an electric driving range of 50 km (31 miles), presumably on lithium-ion batteries. It's hybrid range was not reported.
