The Livonia plant of A123 Systems Inc. will supply lithium-ion battery cells for the motorsports industry under a newly won contract.

A123 is teaming with the British electric-motorcycle technology company Mavizen in a supply and distribution deal that will see A123's automotive lithium-ion cells power high-performance race bikes.

The terms of the contract were not disclosed.
