Better Place has unveiled the price of the electric cars it will be selling in Israel, the Renault Fluence ZE: NIS 123,000. That's a hair more than gasoline-fueled cars of similar size.

Buyers can start placing orders in July and the cars should start arriving toward year-end.

Better Place, founded by ex-tech entrepreneur Shai Agassi, also revealed that initially it will be offering five service packages whose prices will depend on the client's mileage. Each package includes installation of a charging point at the client's home, unlimited battery replacements and unfettered access to Better Place charging points for four years.

In April 2010, Better Place and Chery agreed to collaborate on giving the G5 battery-swapping capability.

Is Better Place's battery-swapping strategy also a better idea?
