Electrovaya Inc. (Toronto, Canada) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Environ Energy Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. (Kolkata, India) to supply lithium ion battery-based storage solutions for renewable energy installations for telecom applications in India.
Under the MoU, Electrovaya would supply renewable energy management solutions across the 15,000 telecom towers that Bhaskar plans to build in India. This follows on a Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) decision mandating renewable energy power for telecom towers.
"We have been researching opportunities in the solar industry for some time and have been awaiting an opportunity that could leverage the growing recognition by key regulators about the need to replace diesel generators with clean technology environmentally-friendly energy storage solutions," says Environ Energy Telecom Head Partha Chatterjee.
