DAHON to Develop Line of Ford-Branded Bicycles, Including Electrics
Today, DAHON, a world-leader in folding bicycles announced that it was joining forces with Ford Motor Company to develop a line of Ford-branded bicycles, with the launch slated for 2014. The Duarte, California company recently won several patent and trademark infringement cases in Chinese courts.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will share ideas and concept for the new Ford product line, which initially will be sold through selected retail outlets. Besides its line of manual bicycles, the company also offers a line of men and women's electric-assist bicycles, as well as children's bicycle.
This is not Ford Motor Company's first venture into two-wheeled mobility. In the early 2000's, it offered an electric-assist bicycle under its short-lived Th!nk brand, which also included the Norwegian-built Th!nk City electric car and the Th!nk Neighbor low-speed, community car.

Duarte, California, August 26, 2013 - DAHON, the world leader in folding bicycles, announces that an agreement to license products on a global level with Ford Motor Company has been signed. Under the agreement, the two companies will have an active exchange of design ideas to produce a complete line of new Ford branded bicycles.
The new line is expected to launch in 2014 with specific models to be determined in the coming months. All production and distribution will be handled by DAHON and will initially be sold through select retail channels. The Ford line will furthermore include a range of folding bicycles and e-bikes for adults and children as well as a full line of accessories.
