BMW Reveals All-Electric Roadster Concept Based on Mini Platform

Mini has collaborated with the famous coach building house Touring Superleggera to create a pure electric roadster. The one-off concept car made its debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este last weekend, suggesting that Mini is preparing to launch a new flagship sportscar in the foreseeable future.

You can currently buy a Mini Roadster, but it’s little more than a convincingly adapted version of the standard hatch. The Superleggera Vision, on the other hand, is unique. Classic proportions and elegant lines are tempered by eccentric details and a zero emissions drivetrain. Mini says that the closed front grille is a subtle nod to the electric motor.

“The Mini Superleggera Vision elegantly perpetuates what the Classic Mini started 55 years ago: reduction to the essentials. Its energetic, minimalistic design embodies the dynamic essence of an automobile,” said Anders Warming, Mini’s head of design.
