Clean Motion Plans $10M Investment In India E-Trike
Sweden's Clean Motion, which imports its Zbee electric three-wheeled taxi into India, operating them in Gurgaon’s DLF Cyber City as a 'last mile' transit service, wants to bring most of its production to the sub-continent.
By investing the equivalent of $10m over the next three years, the company aims to expand its franchise model to other Indian cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Hyderbad's special economic zone. It also hopes to introduce them as a premium transportation service to popular tourist destinations like the Taj Mahal in Agra.
Local production would include all of the mechanical parts of the vehicle. The composite body shell, however, would continue to be fabricated in Malaysia. Production would double at the Faridabad facility from the current two units per day to four with the goal of having 2,000 vehicles on the road in the next three years.
Besides the driver, the three-wheelers can hold two passengers. Top speed is 45km (27 miles) per hour and operational range on a single charge of its lithium-ion batteries is said to be 50km (31 mi).
