First Production Model 3 Rolls Off Assembly Line

Tesla assembles first production Model 3 with plans to gradually ramp up to 20,000 a month by December

Friday afternoon, the first production version of the Model 3 came off the end of the Fremont, California assembly line. Priced at a moderate $35,000 before federal and state tax incentives, the car will likely sticker out closer to $40,000 with options.

The company plans to hold a customer handover at the end of July for the first 30 cars. After that it gradually will ramp up production to some 20,000 cars a month by December. The company claims to have some 350-400,000 reservations for the car with an estimated range of 215-250 miles per full charge.
