Fair Use [17 U.S.C. § 107] Zeekr X9 powered by Super Electric Power (SEP) hybrid system

Zeekr's new Super Electric Power hybrid system, launching first in the flagship Zeekr 9X SUV, is not the kind of hybrid powertrain that whispers about efficiency. It shouts. Built on a 900-volt EV-first architecture, SEP pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with up to three silicon-carbide electric motors to produce as much as 1,381 horsepower. That output pushes the full-size 9X from zero to 100 km/h in just over three seconds, making it one of the most powerful hybrids ever sold.
Unlike traditional hybrids that rely on the engine as the primary mover, SEP treats electricity as the main event. The system can operate in pure EV mode for 300 to 380 kilometers depending on battery size, and when the pack runs low, the engine steps in as either a generator in series mode or a direct contributor in parallel mode. The transitions are seamless, and because the motors remain the dominant drive source, performance stays consistent even at low battery charge.
Charging is where SEP separates itself from the pack. Thanks to its 900-volt architecture and CATL Freevoy battery, the 9X can charge from 20 to 80 percent in roughly nine minutes, a figure that rivals many dedicated EVs. The system is designed to maintain high output without thermal throttling, giving the 9X the kind of repeatable acceleration that performance drivers expect.
Inside, the 9X wraps this technology in a luxury shell: a massive three-row cabin, dual 16-inch displays, a 47-inch augmented-reality head-up display, and a ceiling-mounted rear entertainment screen. It is a flagship in every sense, and SEP is the powertrain that makes it feel like one.
For now, SEP will be sold exclusively in China, with the Zeekr 9X scheduled to reach customers in late 2025. Pricing starts at RMB 455,900, or about USD 64,000, and climbs toward USD 83,000 for the triple-motor performance model. Zeekr has global ambitions, but no export timeline for SEP-equipped hybrids has been announced.
If this is the future of hybrids, the category is about to get a lot more exciting. SEP proves that electrification and performance are no longer separate ideas—they are the same idea, executed at 900 volts.
