Stanford University Student Discovers Way To Reduce Chances Of Electric Car Fires

"Researchers at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in California may have uncovered a way to reduce lithium-ion battery fires in electric vehicles and other electronics. The solution? More salt.

"Usually, less than 50% of a polymer-based electrolyte's weight is salt. Huang pushed that figure to 63%.

"Solvent-Anchored non-Flammable Electrolyte was shown to be non-flammable in tests in a lithium-ion battery..."
