A recent CNET analysis shows that electric vehicles (EVs) now have the lowest total cost of ownership compared to hybrids and gas cars. Factoring in fuel, maintenance, insurance, depreciation, and tax credits, EVs are often cheaper over five years - even with higher upfront prices. Hybrids come close, but gas vehicles lag due to fuel and upkeep costs. EV affordability continues to improve as battery prices fall and incentives expand.
