Joby Celebrates First Flight of "SuperPilot" Autonomous Turbine Electric Demonstrator Aircraft

Joby Aviation completed the first flight of its turbine-electric autonomous VTOL demonstrator on Nov. 7, 2025, just three months after unveiling the hybrid concept. Developed with L3Harris, the aircraft integrates a turbine generator and Joby's SuperPilot autonomy system to extend range and payload. It targets longer-range air taxi services and defense applications, with government demos planned for 2026.
