EREV, PHEV Decline Amid BEV Surge in China

In China, sales of extended range EVs (EREVs) and plug‑in hybrids (PHEVs) are falling as battery EVs surge. Improved ranges exceeding 500 km, rapid‑charge tech like BYD's 5‑minute system, and 13 million charging stations have reduced hybrids' appeal. October sales of EREVs/PHEVs dropped 10% year‑on‑year to 469,000 units, while BEVs rose 20% to 812,000. Analysts say hybrids' role as a bridge is disappearing as BEVs dominate.
