Biophobia - fear or discomfort toward nature - is rising globally, driven by urbanization, media portrayals, and personal traits. A Lund University review of nearly 200 studies shows reduced exposure reinforces avoidance, limiting nature's health benefits and weakening conservation attitudes. Researchers suggest early positive experiences and greener urban spaces could help reverse this trend and restore human–nature connections.
