This Hidden Flaw Has Been Breaking EV Batteries

29 Dec 2025 | Abstracted from Science Daily

Researchers discovered a hidden cracking mechanism inside next‑gen single‑crystal lithium‑ion batteries. Instead of failing at grain boundaries like older cells, these newer designs crack from uneven internal reactions. Surprisingly, materials once thought harmful actually improved stability. The finding could lead to longer‑lasting, safer EV batteries.
