China has tested a massive airborne wind turbine in Sichuan Province, capturing high‑altitude winds for the first time at megawatt scale. The SAWES S2000 system, developed by Linyi Yunchuan with major research partners, reached 6,500 feet during a 30‑minute flight and generated 385 kWh while connected to the local grid. The prototype signals China's push toward high‑altitude wind as a new frontier in renewable energy.
