Fisker Went Bankrupt And Owners Built Open Source Car Company From The Ashes

17 May 2026 | Abstracted from Electrek

After Fisker's 2024 bankruptcy left 11,000 Ocean EVs orphaned, owners formed the 4,000‑member Fisker Owners Association (FOA) to keep them running. FOA members reverse‑engineered software, organized bulk parts buys, launched a "Flying Doctors" mobile repair network, and built an open‑source GitHub hub - fueling calls for software escrow and right?to?repair laws.
