Australia Added So Many Batteries That Some States Will Offer Free Power For Three Hours A Day

Australia's rapid deployment of grid-scale and home batteries is transforming its power market. Starting July 1, residents in parts of Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia will receive free electricity from 11 a.m.–2 p.m., as batteries store cheap solar power and replace costly gas generation. The shift lowers prices, cuts emissions, and encourages EV charging and energy use during peak solar hours.
