Developed in the 1970s by Greek tycoon Giannis Goulandris, the Enfield 8000 was the world's first modern mass-produced electric vehicle. Built on the island of Syros during the global oil crisis, the innovative two-seater featured a 40-mile range and 48 mph top speed. However, severe bureaucratic and tax categorization hurdles in Greece prevented it from being sold locally, leading to the project's cancellation in 1977 after only 120 units.
