China's EV Market Is Booming. There's Just One Problem

China's rapid EV expansion - growing from 1 million cars in 2018 to over 16 million by 2025 - has triggered a massive wave of aging batteries reaching end-of-life. Facing around 400,000 tonnes of annual battery waste, China is enacting strict recycling regulations, battery tracing systems, and advanced material recovery processes for metals like lithium, cobalt, and nickel. As the global EV leader, China is now forced to pioneer large-scale battery recycling to prevent environmental hazards.
