"...before you sign the paperwork to lease a new EV or PHEV, be aware that there can still be significant stumbling blocks to savings. Some automakers are not passing the tax credit along to consumers. Others are using opaque calculations that hide the true cost of the vehicle.

"To get an estimate of whether a lease makes financial sense, we recommend calculating the total cost of a lease...because a manufacturer advertises a tax credit, it doesn't necessarily guarantee a good deal."
