"...America's most overlooked climate and car-cutting solution: more development in neighborhoods where people don’t need to drive everywhere...researchers estimated that ambitious but realistic zoning reforms could cut vehicle miles traveled (VMT) by as much as 13 percent across the region over the next 17 years... earlier RMI modeling found that America needs to cut per-capita VMT by 20 percent and put 70 million electric vehicles on the road by 2030 to meet our national climate targets..."
