Candela CEO and founder Gustav Hasselskog claims that aside from the environmental advantages, the P-12 costs up to 90 per cent less to run, per seat, than a diesel equivalent.
"The P-12 has a range of 40 nautical miles...and can cruise at 25 knots, or 46 km/h....Sydney Harbour ferries typically have a maximum speed of 15 knots.
"Olympic gold medal-winning British sailor Iain Percy founded a company called Artemis that is also building foiling electric ferries."
