Beta Technologies Demonstrates All-Electric X-Country Flight With Passengers Into JFK

On Tuesday, aerospace startup Beta Technologies conducted a demonstration flight of its all-electric aircraft, Alia, at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The 45-minute flight took off from East Hampton Airport (HTO) on Long Island, carrying four passengers and a pilot, covering a direct air distance of approximately 80 miles (130 kilometers) at an estimated airspeed at 107 miles per hour (or approximately 172 kilometers per hour).

The Alia's advanced air mobility technology could potentially reduce noise pollution and improve air quality around airports. Beta Technologies aims to obtain certification for the aircraft and bring emissions-free flights closer to the flying public.
