"...Ford faces a tough road ahead before coming on the market, with a global chip shortage potentially stalling its launch."This proved a problem last year, when the car maker said the lack of semiconductors was expected to slash its first quarter earnings by as much as 20 percent.
"It cut production of the F-150 truck - America''s most popular vehicle and the firm's biggest profit spinner - over the chip shortage which has hamstrung manufacturers."

"Russia's invasion of Ukraine means that global demand for fossil fuels has very likely peaked - for good. The world’s policymakers have been working toward this tipping point for years. And now, the twin forces of national security and energy economics are driving permanent system change away from fossil fuels quicker than ever..."The math behind peaking demand for fossil fuels is not complex. If we take BP data for the decade to 2020, global energy demand has grown at 1 percent per year. Solar and wind supply grew at an average rate of 20 percent per year over the decade and made up around 4.4 percent of primary energy supply in 2021. A year of even 15 percent growth would see them make up 0.66 percentage points of the growth in total energy supply.
"In other words, under a steady-state environment, solar and wind are meeting about two thirds of the growth in energy demand. Added output from hydro, nuclear, and biomass supply is enough to make up the rest of the demand growth. This leaves very little room for incremental demand for fossil fuels."

"By 2030, the decline of biodiversity and ecosystems could cost around US$2.7 trillion annually, or 2.3 per cent of global gross domestic product, with poorer countries being hit the hardest with a GDP drop of more than 10 per cent, according to the World Bank's "The Economic Case for Nature" report in June.Biodiversity loss ranks third among the top global risks by severity over the next decade, behind climate action failure and extreme weather, according to a survey of nearly 1,000 experts and leaders in the World Economic Forum’s "Global Risks Report 2022" released in January.

"Hybrid vehicles were once seen as the fuel type to help bridge the gap between petrol and diesel cars and electric vehicles, but now have been branded an "unnecessary distraction". Aidan McClean, founder and CEO of UFODRIVE, Europe's largest all electric car hire company, has slammed hybrid cars, saying they are hindering the progress towards complete electrification."They are a placebo, and an unnecessary distraction from going full electric and seeing real, measurably positive impacts for carbon emissions and therefore the climate.
“If people go hybrid, they think they may not need to go fully electric as they are 'doing their bit' - without doing very much at all."

"Through its EV Green Charger initiative, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has reportedly provided more than 8,800 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity to charge electric vehicles in the emirate."DEWA first installed 100 EV chargers in Dubai in 2015, and the network has since expanded to the 560 charge points now found in the city.
"There are currently 5,107 electric vehicles registered in Dubai, a city of around three million people, up from the 71 EVs registered when the chargers were first installed."

"These economic upsides create competitive advantages in clean technologies during a time of growing international demand. The International Finance Corporation estimates clean tech will be a $23 trillion opportunity in the coming decades. These growing economic opportunities are not just theoretical. Global investments in the technologies needed for carbon neutrality jumped 25 percent to $755 billion in 2021, up from an increase of about 10 percent in 2020, and building on two decades of solid growth."17 Apr 2022 | Synopsis
"The savings at the pump are impressive. The US national average gasoline price per gallon was US $4.32 today. Depending on your car, that might take you anywhere from 20-50 miles."But on an electric bike? That same US $4.32 will take you over 2,000 miles. That''s because it is ridiculously cheap to charge an electric bicycle, and they are ridiculously efficient. You likely won''t even notice a difference in your electricity bill from owning an electric bike - they simply barely use any energy.
Don''t believe me? Here''s the math. Considering a US national average electricity price of $0.10 kWh and an average e-bike efficiency of around 20 Wh/mile, that works out to roughly $0.002 per mile, or 5 miles for one cent of electricity. If you''re an urban commuter and you drive a 5-mile commute, you could do it on an electric bike for the cost of just one sticky penny wedged in the bottom of your car''s cupholder."

"With gas prices well over $3 a gallon (over $5 in California), a hybrid or electric vehicle can mean real savings, as opposed to two years ago when gas was selling for just $2 a gallon."Even better: The government wants to help you buy one.
"Thanks to last years infrastructure bill, tax credits that had expired have now been renewed for most hybrid and electric vehicles."
"And with more charging stations, and renewed credits, car buyers like Justin Drew are ready to buy."

"Car Complaints reports that the suit, filed in the Supreme Court of B.C., comes from a plaintiff with a 2017 and 2018 Bolt EV, and claims that GM went ahead with the marketing and sales of its vehicles, despite being aware of issues with the battery pack 'since at least 2018..."Following a US$1.8-billion recall of around 142,000 Bolts last fall, the automaker now sees itself up against a class-action lawsuit, right here on Canadian soil, that alleges GM was aware of defects in the Chevy Bolt EV and Chevy Bolt EUV."

"Last year, Quebec joined the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance, a group of federal and state-based governments committed to phasing out fossil fuels. But many advocates say the Legault government hasn't taken enough concrete actions to reduce greenhouse gases in Quebec. Right now, the province is set to miss its 2030 target of a 37.5% reduction compared with 1990 levels."Since 2011, at least nine petitions or declarations opposing fossil fuels in Quebec have racked up more than 600,000 signatures. The most recent, created in February by over a dozen environmental organizations, called on the government to stop all handouts to the oil and gas industry."
